WHAT ARE TRIBES?

Tribes are teams within our youth ministry that compete against each other from Feb 18-Mar 25 with hopes of winning the overall competition. Points are awarded for spirit, team unity, inviting friends, and for winning weekly game competitions. Tribes provide a fun way to check out our youth ministry, get to know new friends, and explore what a relationship with God looks like.

Whether you have been to MixHS dozens of times in the past or you have never been before, you are welcome to join a Tribe by simply showing up any Sunday from 7:00-8:30p at 6515 Ambrosia Lane 92011 or by clicking the registration link above. The Tribe that wins the entire competition gets a Rooftop Party on Mission Beach this April.

For most of us, we've been new a lot. That's good news, cuz now you're not the only one who's felt what it feels like to be new. But let's be honest. It's usually not the most comfortable feeling. Sure, new experiences can be exciting and fun, but they can also be scary and intimidating.

Despite the potential scary factor, the fact that you're reading this page right now indicates that maybe just maybe, you're ready for something new. Our goal for Mix is to be the friendliest student ministry in the world.

WELCOME!

Luckily for you, that simply means that we would love for you to come hang out, but we also want to get to know you. We think life is best experienced with other people, so we want to help you build some quality friends.

Mix lives up to its name, consisting of all types of high school students including those who are athletic, smart, skaters, thinkers, extroverted, introverted, creative and more. Mix includes students from several different high schools, including Carlsbad High, Sage Creek High, La Costa Canyon High, San Marcos High, Mission Vista High, Vista High, Oceanside High, High Tech Academy, Tri-City Christian, home school and many more. Wherever you are, whatever you are, and however you are... you'll fit right in.

The best friendships are those where you have something in common with another person. The one thing we all have in common is that we want to learn more about God. Maybe you're unsure about what you believe about God, or maybe you're completely sold out for God. Either way, we'd like to help you learn more and help you answer any questions you may have.

If you come check out Mix on a Sunday or a Mixer event, we won't make you stand up and talk or introduce yourself in front of a crowd or anything crazy. You don't even have to say a word if you don't want. But just know that you're invited. You are welcome. And we'd love for you to check it out.

And when you do, we think you'll be happy no longer being new.

We've all been new. Maybe you recently moved to SoCal. Maybe you just switched schools. Maybe today's the first time you heard about MixHS. We've all been new at one point in our lives, and not just once. If you are new to MixHS, click the down arrow to learn more.

MixHS is the High School Student Ministry at Daybreak Church in Carlsbad, California. We exist to know Jesus Christ and make Him known. We strive to accomplish our mission by making it our goal to become the friendliest student ministry in the world. We realize that it is crucial for high school students to know there is a place where they belong. We invite you to belong with us.

We have a ton of fun throughout the year with dozens of opportunities to get to know friends and God better. We meet each Sunday from 7:00-8:30pm in the Daybreak Loft (2nd floor of the west building at 6515 Ambrosia Lane 92011). We always have great people and free food every week! See what's for dinner below. We look forward to meeting you!

Life is better together. All high school students are invited to take the next step in their faith journey by joining a small group of other students to study the Bible together. Groups meet on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30p in the Brickyard before breaking apart into smaller groups.

MARCH 29: Seder Meal

Just before Jesus was crucified, He gathered His disciples together for one last supper. It was common for even Jesus to have a Passover meal in remembrance of God's past provision and promises. On Thursday, March 29, MixHS invites all high school students to join our own version of a Passover meal, also known as a Seder meal. This event is more of an experience than a meal, with symbolism explained for each food item available. No registration required. 7:00-8:30p in the Brickyard.

MARCH 30:  Digital Easter Egg Hunt

The 3rd Annual Digital Easter Egg Hunt is a 48-hour online scavenger hunt jam-packed with clues, prizes, rewards and more! Students are challenged to find hidden links throughout mixhs.com, but this year's Easter Egg Hunt will be different than previous years for a variety of reasons. Stay tuned!

All parents of high school students are invited to attend to learn how to get prepared to pay for college once their student graduates. This is a free course taught by Shaun Kennard. The seminar will be held in the Brickyard during the 10:45a service.

APRIL 22: College Financial Seminar

Several times throughout the year, we head down to the Carlsbad Village to serve the elderly residents living at the Tyler Court Apartment complex. For this particular day, we will be serving the residents a Mothers Day brunch and spending quality time with them. To register, text "mixhs tyler court" to 82257 (include spaces, but not quotation marks).

MAY 12: Tyler Court Service Opportunity

Most schools have off for Memorial Day, so we're stayin' up later after MixHS and putting on a movie with candy and popcorn. This event is free for all high school students. The movie for the night has not yet been chosen. Have a suggestion? Text your movie choice to 82257 with "mixhs [movie title]" (include a space, but no quotations).

MAY 27: Movie Night

Our current seniors are all gradumatating and heading out! We have one final night with them during Senior Night as we celebrate them and gain from their insight as they put on this service. Parents of grads are welcome to attend. Grads interested in helping put on this service may contact Matt at (505) 720-6453.

JUNE 10: Senior Night

JUNE 24: Summer Kickoff 2018

Each year during our Summer Kickoff, we have tons of fun, giveaways, and excitement as we kick off the summer in style and welcome our new freshmen class into high school!
